Weather and cancellation policy.
The decision to cancel session takes into account the safety and well-being of the clients, horses/animals and staff at all times. As it relates to temperature, we follow the guidelines for “RealFeel” weather conditions and the Washington Administrative Codes (WACs). For example: temperature + humidity {spring/summer} and temperature + wind chill {fall}. The conditions at the farm may be different than downtown Pullman and Moscow due to our location in Albion.
Sessions may be canceled or adjusted on a case-by-case/hourly basis at the discretion of the farm or instructor when any of the following conditions are present at the time of your session.
RealFeel is less than 32 {Fall} or more than 100 degrees {Spring/ Summer}
More than 50% chance of severe weather (windstorms, rainstorms, thunderstorms, warnings/watches)
Heavy precipitation within 24 hours (more than 1" of rain in a short period of time; or snow and ice)
Steady winds over 18mph and/ or gusts over 22mph: any instance of NOAA wind Advisory.
Air quality score above 100 or above as shown by AirVisual.
Clothing
60 degrees and above {Short sleeves, racer back tank tops. No spaghetti straps or open toe shoes}
50- 59 degrees {Jacket and/or long sleeves}
40-50 degrees {Jacket and/or coat required}
32-40 degrees {Winter jacket, gloves}
De Feys Equi Health & Wellness instructors may choose to adjust sessions to groundwork, horsemanship education, indoor education or talk in the event of weather, instead of canceling. Make-up lessons cannot be scheduled in lieu of ground lessons or indoor education. Your instructor will email, text or call the number that has been designated to inform you of session cancellations directly. You may also contact your instructor if you have any questions; you will not be charged for sessions canceled due to weather when make-ups are not feasible.
